Operation Encompass
Supporting children through strong safeguarding partnerships
Hollywood Park Nursery School is part of Operation Encompass, a national initiative that helps schools and nurseries support children who may have been affected by domestic abuse.
Operation Encompass ensures that when police attend an incident of domestic abuse where children are present, the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) in the child’s school or nursery is informed before the next school day. This allows us to offer sensitive, timely support.
How Operation Encompass Helps Children
The information shared is:
-
strictly confidential
-
only given to the DSL
-
only what is needed to support the child
This means we can:
-
understand that a child may be upset, tired or unsettled
-
offer calm, nurturing support
-
adjust routines if needed
-
keep a close, gentle eye on wellbeing
-
work with families in a sensitive, non‑judgemental way

Working Together to Keep Children Safe
Operation Encompass strengthens our safeguarding practice by ensuring we have the right information at the right time. We work closely with families, police and safeguarding partners to provide calm, consistent support.
If you ever need to talk to us about anything that may affect your child, please come and speak to a member of the safeguarding team. We will always listen.
A Safe, Nurturing Environment
Children thrive when they feel secure. Operation Encompass helps us maintain a nursery environment where every child is:
-
protected
-
valued
-
supported
-
understood
Safeguarding is at the heart of our community.
