Safeguarding
The Early Years Foundation Stage Statutory Framework 2021 requires providers like Nursery Schools to take necessary steps to safeguard and promote children’s welfare.
The Nursery staff work in partnership with parents, children and other professionals from the health sector, social care and education in order to ensure the welfare of all the children who use Nursery.
As a Centre we have to ensure that appropriate safeguarding and child protection procedures are in place and ensure that the welfare of the child is paramount. We have a duty to enable children who are in need of support to come forward, and will take appropriate action to safeguard their well-being. We have a Safeguarding Policy and we ensure that staff have the training that they need to help do their job well. We also have members of the Leadership and Management Team who are the Designated Safeguarding Person (DSP) for the nursery. In line with legislation there will always be at least one DSP on site during opening hours.
The DSPs at Nursery are Catherine Armstrong, Margaret Jones and Sophie Garrick.
We have vigorous recruitment procedures in place to ensure that staff employed at the Nursery have undergone police criminal record checks.
Safe recruitment of staff is a part of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, which is an important part of Keeping children safe (2022)Safeguarding_School_HPNS_Policy_Final.pdf
