Welcome to Hollywood Park Nursery School
Hollywood Park is a calm, nurturing and inclusive nursery where children feel safe, valued and ready to explore. We build strong relationships with families and work together to support each child’s learning, wellbeing and development.
This section of our website brings together everything you need as your child begins their journey with us.
Admissions
We welcome children aged 2–4, including those accessing our Resourced Provision. Admissions follow Stockport Local Authority guidance.
We offer:
-
funded 2‑year‑old places
-
universal 15‑hour places
-
extended 30‑hour places (where eligible)
-
Resourced Provision places allocated through SEND panel processes
If you would like to visit the nursery or ask questions about places, please get in touch — we are always happy to help.
Settling‑In
Starting nursery is a big step for young children. Our settling‑in process is gentle, flexible and shaped around each child’s needs.
We offer:
-
stay‑and‑play sessions
-
short visits
-
gradual build‑up of time
-
close communication with families
-
key person support from day one
Our aim is to help children feel safe, confident and ready to explore at their own pace.
Attendance
Regular attendance helps children build relationships, feel secure in routines and make progress in their learning.
If your child is unwell or unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible. If you have concerns about attendance or need support, we will work with you sensitively and without judgement.
Uniform
At Hollywood Park Nursery School, children do not have to wear a uniform — but many families choose it because it helps their child understand it is a “nursery day”, supports routine, and makes getting ready in the morning easier.
Our uniform is practical, comfortable and designed for busy days of play, exploration and outdoor learning.
Our Optional Uniform
Children can wear:
-
jade green polo shirt (£9)
-
jade green sweatshirt or sweat cardigan (£11 and £12.50 respectively)
These can be ordered from reception.
Children can wear their own:
-
trousers
-
leggings
-
shorts
-
skirts
-
dresses
Uniform is simple, flexible and designed to support independence.
Why Some Families Choose Uniform
Families tell us that uniform helps their child:
-
recognise it is a nursery day
-
feel part of the nursery community
-
settle into routines more easily
-
avoid confusion between home clothes and nursery clothes
-
feel confident and ready for learning
It also protects children’s own clothes during messy play.
Clothing for Play and Exploration
Whether children wear uniform or not, please dress them in:
-
comfortable clothes
-
layers suitable for outdoor learning
-
footwear that supports movement
-
clothes that can get messy
Children explore paint, mud, water and nature every day — it’s part of the fun.
Outdoor Clothing
Because we learn outdoors in all weathers, please provide:
-
a warm coat
-
wellies
-
waterproofs
-
hats and mittens (winter)
-
sunhat (summer)
We have some spare items available if needed.
Promoting Independence
To help children with toileting and self‑care, please avoid:
-
belts
-
buckles
-
dungarees
-
tricky fastenings
Elasticated trousers, leggings and joggers are ideal.
Good As New Rail
We have a Good As New rail in reception with pre‑loved uniform items for £3 each. All proceeds go to the School Fund.
Donations of clean, good‑quality uniform are always welcome.
Lost Property
Lost property is kept in reception. Please label every item your child brings to nursery — especially coats, jumpers, hats and wellies.
